Thats right "Cafepress DVD"! Finally a site that works like Cafepress for all your media needs! DVD/CD/Audiobooks/HD projects! :)
The really sweet thing is that this is through Amazon.com so you know you're not getting some weird "guy in his basement" kind of deal. Since its "on demand" it works like Cafepress where you don't have to actually "buy" a bunch these and try and sell them.
I found this site today while searching for a cafepress-alternative for a DVD project that the Manpollo.org people are putting together on environmental risk-management.
Anywho, I also bought a copy of "Lucifer Effect: Understanding how Good People Turn Evil" by Philip G. Zimbardo for my dad today. Its by the same guy who did the Stanford Prison experiment (my dad mentioned it to me). Pretty insane stuff.
So yeah, I hope he gets it soon. Its been a rough few weeks (I even scratched my cornea (again) last weeks Monday (right across the pupil). So far so good.
Oh yeah, and my cars clutch is pretty much terminal. Been biking to work/al-anon lately. Darn hills!
Love to all, Keith

Today marks Jenny and I's one year of being together :)
Tonight we recreated our 'first date', we went to the Coffee Cat and played chess (which is how me met a year ago), this time around Jenny won every game (she's been practicing). We then went to the California Pizza Kitchen for dinner.
We did have a side excursion though, Jenny and I went to the Brookstone shop and poked our heads around until our reservations were called at the restaurant. Jenny and I ended up getting some sleeping masks and a nifty soft "NAP pillow" that just happened to be 80% off ;)
I was stoked because I needed a new one for the flight to Sweden.
Anywho, speaking of Sweden, I sent in my VISA application on Wednesday (they received it early Thursday morning). Jenny and I did an all-nighter getting all the paper work done, when I found out that the application needed 6 to 8 months for processing. The nice lady at the consulate office said they would do us a special favor if we rushed the paperwork to them the next day!
I guess its in Gods hands now... if I get the VISA I'll be going to Sweden. If not, well... plan "B" doesn't really exist.
So yeah, happy day for me today. I still can't believe a whole year has gone by this fast. Its been an incredible journey of a lifetime, with only more dreams and memories still to come.
All the best, Keith

This was a keynote speech that Tim Robbins gave to the major media. He drives home an important fact that was first mentioned almost 50 years ago:
"In 1961 FCC commissioner Newton Minnow described television as a "vast wasteland" of game shows, gangsters, formula comedies and commercials. Forty-six years later, actor Tim Robbins thinks little has changed."
"We love distraction," he said, reading from a speech the organizers reportedly tried to talk him out of giving. "I don't know about you, but show me a starlet without panties getting out of a car, and suddenly the world seems like a better place. Show me 'Knight Rider' drunk on the floor eating a hamburger, and I won't ask why my kid has no health insurance. Let's stop burdening people with facts." -Tim Robbins April, 2008.

Its now been 5 years since my father was arrested on April 1st 2003. :(
Speaking of fathers, Patrick has been in the hospital since Saturday. He's had three operations so far, had his left lung collapse/fill with fluid, and the Nurses told us that if my mom hadn't have brought him into the ER on Saturday he would have been dead in 2 days.
Its been a rough week, haven't had much sleep... counseling appointment tomorrow on campus which is good.

So time for my report on how it all went:
GOOD: Josefine: Mild, peaceful, seemingly shy, very smart, really liked the wine we had, was a joy to be around. Parnilla: Very upbeat, had lots of experiences and places to talk about, extremely outgoing, generally very positive person. Olle: Cute kid for being 1.5 years old. Didn't talk much except "Titta(look), Mamma, and Tack-Tack(thanks). He had a great laugh and smile, and behaved rather well for an almost 2 year old.
BAD: * Josefine broke her foot in 2 places. * Our Saturday sailing trip ended up in a "Small Craft Advisory" and ripping of the mainsail. * Parnilla vs Jenny- Swedish shouting match in the middle of Solvang. * General negative comments, criticisms, and being stood-up for breakfast that really put Jenny and I in a bad mood. * Having the sisters leave Tuesday instead of Thursday. * Patrick sleeping on the boat to avoid screaming baby at 5AM. * Learning a ton about Parnilla, but very little about Josefine because she never got a chance to talk. I also feel they know nothing about me because they appeared to not be interested.
Overview: For the most part it was a good trip, and Jenny really liked seeing them again. We had a fun time and saw a lot (including several playgrounds I have never been to)... I also know what to expect when I move and how to deal with the people I am going to be seeing on what appears to be a weekly basis in the future.
Anywho, the sisters and Olle are on their way to Universal Studios and also to see Parnilla's friend and spend time shopping in LA before they fly home on Thursday.
Fun times, Keith

This article made me optimistic about the weather when Jenny and I move to Sweden. -Keith
Sweden set for mildest winter in 250 years by Steph Ball
While Sweden’s meteorologists are claiming that spring has arrived early across the country, they have yet to decide whether winter actually began. And as February draws to a close it looks like winter 2007-2008 will be Sweden’s mildest on record.
The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has two rules of thumb it has devised over the years to determine the arrival of winter and spring. For winter it is when the average temperature falls below freezing for five consecutive days.
As yet that has not happened in southern Sweden. In fact January 2008 was the mildest on record for the country and at present temperatures through February have been 4 to 7 degrees above normal. The existing temperature record for the three month period December to February is 1.9C, set in 1972-1973. Current data for the 2007-2008 winter season suggests the final average will be near 2 or 2.2C, making it the mildest since records began in 1756.
Sweden’s rule of thumb for the arrival of spring requires average temperatures to have risen above freezing for seven consecutive days. Since that has now been met by much of the country, spring has well and truly arrived.
Meteorologists are putting the mild weather down to a general change in climate with the last few years having been milder than normal. Sweden is not alone, with southern Finland also experiencing a mild winter.

Yay! So my hobby just got a mention in a York Pennsylvania newspaper :)
http://www.inyork.com/local/ci_8363492
"Kevin Stephens used tweezers to lift a Panzer IV D German World War II-era tank wheel from a mint tin. Stephens crafted the wheel from 13 pieces of paper, which measure less than a centimeter square. The Manchester Township resident is wrapped up in a rare hobby. Stephens uses paper to reproduce mini versions of complex war armory and airplanes..." ... continued.
"Rare Hobby" is right! There are a few of us remaining. I hope this article will get more people into it. It seems most 'paper modelers' are older people (im one of the youngest)... I was also very happy to see Papermodelers.com mentioned in the article as well. Ah, home away from home :)
Just thought I would share, Keith

"The past 6 years of Keith Kie's personal journal, for all the world to see. Covers February 2002 to February 2008."
Print: $14.91 8.5" x 11", perfect binding.
Hardcover Print: $27.38 8.25" x 10.75", casewrap-hardcover binding.
I made sure to put ZERO mark-up on these... this is "at cost" :) I'm happy with the quality of the book and thought I would put it up for grabs. Most of it is either silly, stupid, or depressing (sorry). Most of the entries are 2002, with it dropping off with fewer entries after that.
You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll sit and wonder what the hell I was smoking!
Enjoy, Keith

So last night Jenny and I bought our plane tickets ($1580~) all together. Not bad for roughly $780 each. Most flights to Sweden during the Summer run $1600+ EACH. :)
We'll be leaving on July 21st (2008)... that gives us 152 days to: * Pack * Get VISA * Down-size * Ship things I want to keep * Learn Swedish * Pay off credit card/moving expenses * Learn more about LTH in Lund.

So I ended up going with Lulu.com (http://www.lulu.com)
I titled the book "6 Years" ... it should be printed between 10-15 days, then shipped to me. So I am assuming I'll get the book around the beginning of March. Its 519 pages, hardcover, black and white. It cost me $32.20 with USPS ground shipping. Depending on the quality from when I get it, I "might" make it available for others to purchase (if interested).

All the best, Keith

Happy Birthday to my Journal today... who is now 6 YEARS OLD! :)
I guess I should turn this into a pdf now and print it out on cafepress... does that mean this is the "last" official written entry?
Current thoughts: Keith is moving to Sweden this Summer, going to attend Lund University and study Industrial Design/Product Design... Change the world and be happy about it, with someone I love very much :)
Looking back I have come a LONG way in just 6 years. Its almost hard to look back on myself as some naive 19 year-old without a care in the world. It is amazing what life can put you through.
Thank you to all my readers, my friends, and my family. I love you all. Much respect and appreciation, Keith

This just proves to me, that even after we pilfer ALL the oil in the Earths crust, that we (the USA) will remain fueled, powered, and ready to blow $#!7 UP!
http://www.valcent.net
Using Algae, their "VertiGro" setup for creating a closed-loop algae production, can produce up to 33,000 gallons of fuel (ethanol or bio-diesel) per acre per year. Those statistics come from their R&D testing facility in El Paso, Texas. They still haven't optimized the best algae species or perfected the pH balances of the water yet either. They are expecting yields to go MUCH higher. For a comparison, Corn based fuel gets about 80 gallons per acre. Palm gets 700 gallons per acre (and only grown in tropics). Algae closed-loop setups like this use hardly any water and can be grown in the desert. They are looking at roughly 10% of these in New Mexico would cover ALL the USA transportation energy needs. ZOMGBBQ! :O
Anywho, besides ruining our planet faster than we already are... I have joined the Manpollo Project. I encourage EVERYONE to visit this site and listen to this dorky science teacher. IT MAKES SENSE!

Today the former prime minister in Pakistan was assassinated... conveniently this is right before Pakistan and USA elections (primaries). Yahoo News picked up on this and made an article centered around this one concept:
"The assassination of Pakistan's former prime minister occurred one week before the Iowa caucuses, the first test of the 2008 race for the White House, and provided a reminder of the importance of national security in an era of terrorism."
Bull Shit!
Terrorism: The use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims.
This is not a war on a noun, its a political mess! The control of power, mind, and money... Meanwhile Americans are spoon-fed this bull shit to accept the world as they present it!
WAKE UP AMERICA! There is NO war on "terror"!

So my visit with my dad went very well. Though he gave me some "homework", even Jenny got an assignment.
I finally finished one project... I am happy to announce that FREEED.ORG is now hosted on Yahoo and is 100% bug free! The address will always be the same! ...I also found a glitch in the CSS file that was making the edit window so tiny (FIXED!)... And I am really happy to announce that version 1.1.6.4 of wikkawiki will have SPAM control! WOOOOO! It'll be in place in about 2 weeks upon release... Right now its on lock-down mode with me being the only editor (which I hate) so hopefully soon I can make users editors and nix the spam-bots!
Jenny's homework (which we'll start tomorrow) is to make Jello using sea-water. I had to one-up him by researching sea-based gelatin's. I found Agar or "Agar-Agar" which is gel made from seaweed. I found a training manual on how to make Agar as well as its history and effects. The neatest tid-bit was one sentence that caught my eye "insoluble in cold but soluble in hot water". Eureka! ... and this stuff has been around since 1658! Not bad for a 350 year old recipe! And I think you can buy it at the grocery store since its a common ingredient in a lot of Asian dishes. The trick is going to be making it a solid substance. Though if my mother can make "jello hockey-pucks" how hard can it be? ;)
Anywho, thats my mini-update for today. Cheers!

So I stayed home sick yesterday... I watched Beetlejuice to get into the Halloween spirit, and ate a LOT of soup... and pretty much did nothing.
Jenny later came over and worked on her Poem-essay-thingy after school. I swear her teacher must be an idiot, the poem they chose for the class was HORRENDOUS! (aka, a total joke and a mockery of anything educational). *sigh*
Anywho, I also watched the Invader Zim Halloween special on DVD (since I don't have TV). Then passed out early.
Today I am at work again, still coughing a little... i'm also the ONLY ONE who dressed up for Halloween again at work.
*sigh* when will I learn? HAPPY HALLOWEEN! -keith

Okay, so I have 15 minutes before I have to leave so I'll make this quick.
Oct. 18th was Jenny and I's 6 month "anniversary". And I love her very much! Went out to dinner, exchanged gifts (got an awesome drawing DVD, and I got her a pedicure/manicure gift certificate), then went and had ice cream! Yay! :)
Oct. 20th I designed and later printed a Thompson Machine Gun as a prop for my Halloween costume (I should have it finished by tonight, 4 days later).
Oct. 25th I got my flu shot... friggin HURTS!
Oct. 26-28th Jenny and I are driving to my friends' Lisa & Ivans place in Las Vegas. I can't wait to see them, its been almost a year since I saw them last!
Oct. 30th is my uncle Davids birthday, I think I'll make him something. I think I'm done buying gifts for people in general.
... and thats about it! Next month I plan to drive up North with Jenny and go see my father. She finally got approved to go see him. :)
That and I'll really need to clean my place because this ash from the fires is really getting all over the place.
* Note to self: Get power adapter for dad, look into prices of things for friend, move Freeed when Metafocus is done being "crashed".
