6:48 pm - Somehow I was talked into doing this quiz...

Find Out Which Disney Girl You Are!
created with QuizFarm.com
You scored as Alice

Have you fallen down the rabbit hole lately? Or played croquet with a deck of cards? Either way, you're so very much like Alice! Her wild imagination and constant ability to daydream got her in so much trouble - you've probably heard your mother or teacher lecture you about having your head in the clouds! Remember to stay grounded most of the time, however, because life can get away from you when you're always dreaming about someplace else!

4:42 pm - Rant on a Care Bears cartoon...
Being a kid born in the 80's. I grew up watching Care Bears.
I've watched episodes from three very different Care bears series and both of the first Care Bears Movies, all of which I loved. (The Care Bears Movie II is one of my favorite childhood movies)
Now I come across a new incarnation of the cartoon and was sorely disappointed.

Don't get me wrong. It's not a bad cartoon.
If I had a kid, this would definitely be one I'd let him/her watch.
But as one who grew up a huge fan of Care Bears, I can't ignore everything that's wrong with it.

Before I go into the rant, I just wanted to point out that this cartoon does have a couple of good points.
One is that that they hired a very talented cast of actors.
I'm a huge fan of Scott McNeil, and I thought he was a perfect match for Grumpy.
And another is that they actually made a really decent villain.
Out of all the Care Bear villains I've seen, Grizzle's become my favorite.
He has some pretty funny lines, and his plots are classic of the goofy villain role.
And he's a bear! Something that's never been done with Care Bears before.
But given the toned-down-ness (if that's even a word) of the cartoon, he's not really being used to his full potential. =/

So now that I've given you what I do like about the cartoon, here's what I don't like about it. (If you really like this cartoon, this is your last chance to turn back before I start going into the ugly details.)

My first and foremost complaint is that they've completely forgotten what the Care Bears are all about.
The mission of the Care Bears was to teach the people of the world (Earth, which resides BELOW Care-A-Lot) how to care and share their feelings. Whenever someone in the world is in need of caring, the Care Bears come down to their rescue.
That was the point of ALL the other Care Bears cartoons before this one.
In this one, the Care Bears don't seem to HAVE a mission. They're just sort of there, all "blah" not really doing anything useful.

This cartoon doesn't even seem to acknowledge the EXISTENCE of any world other than Care-A-Lot. What happened to the Forest of Feelings, huh?
The Care Bear Cousins are nowhere to be found in this series.

The Care Bears were always a team working together to accomplish their ultimate mission, which was to bring caring to the world (which is Earth).
And this team (all three of those series and both of those movies) was lead by Tenderheart, who was so casually cast aside as a nobody character in this cartoon, only to get maybe one spoken line in one episode out of the ten episodes I watched.
There's no team here. No mission, no Earth, no Forrest of Feelings, no nothing.
Just a bunch of dumbed down teeny-bopper misadventures that could just as easily be plugged in to just about any other cartoon.

Another thing is that the cartoon only focuses on five Care Bears, and a couple of others.

Grumpy, Funshine, Cheer, Share, and Oopsie (a new Care Bear).
Sometimes we see Surprise Bear(another new one), Amigo Bear (yet another new one), and there might've been one or two others, but I can't think of them at the moment.
This small handful of Care Bears is all that's even mentioned in the series. All the other Care Bears are scrap. In previous series, all Care Bears had a purpose, and each of them had their moment to shine in the series.
I learned all the Care Bears names from watching the cartoons and movies. You can't do that with this series because they only look at the little handful they've settled on.

I've read most people complaining about the changes in the tummy symbols.
Me, I don't entirely mind it so long as they still match the character of the bear.
For example, Share Bear's symbol used to be an ice cream soda with two straws sticking out of it. Now it's two lollipops. Both of these are things people can share, so it's still perfectly valid.
I know there are others, but Share Bear is the only bear being focused on in this series that has had a change in tummy symbol.

I will give them this, though. Oopsie, Surprise, and Amigo are interesting characters, and aren't really a bad addition to the franchise.
Amigo, being a Spanish-speaking bear, provides the multi-langual aspect.
Surprise is, well, an interesting idea. She loves to surprise people. That's cool.
And Oopsie's just an interesting character all around, being the only Care Bear that doesn't have a tummy symbol (Oh, I'm sorry. They're called "belly badges" now.). He just sort of draws one on with a crayon whenever he feels he has a role to play. This lack of tummy symbol may or may not attribute to how incredibly clumsy he is (hence, the "Oopsie"), but everyone loves him anyway. =)
.....okay, that's one more thing I like about it.

At any rate, this cartoon has the painful feel of a "merchandise seller".
Unfortunately, the sad truth is that cartoons today are being made only to sell toys, and it doesn't entirely matter how little effort they put into it.
So we end up with a bunch of crappy cartoons whose only purpose is to make money.

I'm not terribly fond of this cartoon(as is made obvious by this rant), but if I had to plant my child in front of a TV, I'd definitely pick this over a lot of the crap cartoons that are out today.

Hell hath frozen over.
Now the mother of all video game duels is finally possible.

Click here to find out what I mean.

This doesn't mean I'll be jumping for that Wii anytime soon.
Although this does pull me closer to that direction.
If Nintendo can pull out a good game that's not a Smash Bros. game (or a game I can play on another system that has more good games than Wii), then we'll see.

4:43 pm - Who likes the Beatles?
Anyone?......Noone?
Oh well, how about Moulin Rouge?
.......nobody?
How about a mix of the two?
......Hey! Why are you walking away?! O_O

LOL Anyway, I just watched Across the Universe this weekend.
I must say it tops Moulin Rouge as my favorite musical of all time.
It's got the feel of Moulin Rouge (but with a lot less chaos), set in the 1960s during the Vietnam War, and all of the music is Beatles music.
Brilliantly put together. The story follows a Brittish guy named Jude [Yes, as in "Hey, Jude"] (although his accent suggests he's Scottish). He comes to America and falls in love with a girl named Lucy [as in "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds"]. And there's a whole bunch of other characters that mix in with these characters, and they all have their own set of problems to go through, all the while breaking into song and joining ing the hippie revolution. =D

There's also a slew of characters that show up for one song and somehow they fit into the storyline, including the glorious Mr. Kite, played by the hilarious Eddie Izzard, performing "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite", although he wasn't really singing it, more like sort of half-rapping it and adding his own lines to it. I think he added more lines than there were in the original song, lol.

And the music is really well incorporated, I think. Even some songs that weren't sung but just mentioned while embedded in one of the characters spoken lines. ("Hello, Hello!")
And of course, being in the 60s, there's drugs and hippies and sex and anti-war revolutions and lots of hippie music. (well, duh. It's the Beatles)

The only problem is finding a theater that's playing it. XD
I had to really search to find one, and we wound up going to the theater all the way down on Alafaya Trail close to where it crosses the 408.
It was a long drive, but we all thought it was well worth it. =)
This is definitely a movie I'm gonna have to get when it comes out on DVD. ^_^

lol, I'd say that's about accurate. =P

Your home is a

Magnate's Headquarters

Your kitchen is someplace you never go, because you "have people for that." There's a Chocolatessen, which is rapidly becoming your favorite room of the house. Having one is also becoming a trend among your wealthy neighbors. Your master bedroom is the size of a small barn, with carpet thick enough to reach your ankles. Your study has hardback editions of every classic ever written, plus a special edition of Rich Dad, Poor Dad with the parts you ghost-authored highlighted. One of your garages holds your collection of ferraris, and is measured in acreage.

Your home also includes a guest wing and private quarters for your servants. Your guests enjoy your animatronic replica of the cantina at Mos Eisley. Outside is your hedge maze and gardens, meticulously tended by a team of world-class botanists.

And, you have a pet -- a doberman pincer named "Warren".

2:28 am - Kitty cats...
High probability Pete and I will be getting a pair of kittens in the near future(now that we can finally afford 'em).
Doug's cat had two kittens couple weeks ago, and he can't afford to keep them.
So he asked if we would be willing to adopt one or both of them, since he'd rather give them to somebody he knows will give them a good home rather than hand 'em over to a humane shelter where the fate of the kittens is completely unknown.
We said "Sure, Doug, we'd like to take 'em both off yer hands."
So as soon as they're old enough to leave their mama(which'll likely be in a couple of weeks), they'll most likely be coming home with us. =)

1:42 pm - Holy Crap! A Whole Year! XD
Come June 3rd, it'll mark one whole year since Pete and I got married. ^_^
One year so far, and we're still going strong. =)
I love him so much, and I wouldn't trade him for anything else in the world (not even Jigen......... well..... jk).

To celebrate our first anniversary, I put up on my MySpace a few of the pictures from that event in my photo section.

And to embarass the holy crap out of people, I also uploaded to MySpace some video footage of people making total fools of themselves on the dancefloor at the reception. =P

Enjoy. ^_^

And while we're on the subject of my wedding, I know our little Swarm's gotten rather split up due to some disagreements and stuff that was done between the lot of you, and I know you just don't get along very well anymore.
I just wanna let you all know I really appreciated that you were all able to at least tolerate each other for one or the two days of that time, even if it was just for my sake. =)
Thank you. All of you. The day of my wedding was absolutely perfect, and I have SO many people to thank for it. Even if Sage couldn't make it (though he was there in spirit), I was happy that all of you were there. =)
It saddens me that we can't get together like we used to anymore, mostly due to how busy everybody is.
But at least I have some really good memories to look back to. =)

11:19 pm - Today was a miserable day...
Originally we were going to dedicate today to cleaning the house to make it presentable so we can invte Pete's aun't to come see it (she's currently in Florida on vacation).
Well, it started off pretty good. We managed to finally get all the frickin Christmas decorations put away. And the bathroom got cleaned.... that is until we suffered a major strike of food poisoning from the birthday party last night.
Yesterday we had a birthday party for my brother-in-law John and my nephew Jarrod. The party was fun and the food tasted good. But I guess something in there wasn't cooked properly (we suspect potato salad), because today almost everybody who went to the party got sick. I won't go into the icky details, but let me just say that Pete got it worse than I did. For me it started around 11 this morning and for Pete it was around 2 in the afternoon. It's 11 at night right now and only now are we getting close to full recovery. This will definitely keep me away from potato salad for a good long time. =/

11:02 pm - Alright, some details...
I just got home from Miami.
It turns out that my grandma had a minor stroke and is now recuperating in a rehab center. The good news is she is all in there. She's totally conscious and recognises everyone (she even noticed that I had a haircut). Really her main issues are that she has trouble verbally expressing anything and that her entire right side is slightly more difficult to move than her left, but only slightly. She's already making really good progress, talking more every day. The doctor says she'll make a very fast recovery.

This was a huge relief or me, because it could've been much worse, and it wasn't. And for that I'm glad.
I'd like to thank everybody that showed their support (you know who you are).

And now that Pete and I are back home and we know everything will be ok, I am going to sit back in my chair and watch the 79th Annual Academy Awards. G'night. =)
