| | Chicken Ramen | ] | It's 11:30pm and dang it I'm feeling lazy so all your getting for an update is a snip from my livejournal entry for yesterday. Sorry I've been ignoring this journal!
>>>The work party was…interesting. You see before the company (Amarak) was bought my Knowledge Quest we were going to have a great party at a restaurant with dancing and inexpensive drinks, and all that. Instead Knowledge Quest decided that their employees didn’t need a break and pulled any funding for a party. Some fun ne? I did however come home with a Santa pin because my team one the Christmas Jeopardy, a cute little door hanger, Snow Caps, and a Blockbuster gift card worth $10. Though it sure is nice to know that the company cares so much about they’re employee’s well being. You know their health insurance doesn’t even cover psychological needs. Heaven forbid any of them ever need to see a therapist! ::grrr::
Sorry…that just really upsets me, as I for one know how important it can be to ones mental health to have someone to talk to. Yes you can get that from friends and such but there’s something different when it’s a therapist. Quite an unbiased opinion while being there to help you at the same time.
On the other side of things… Both scarves came not to long ago! Thank you so very much Kelly it’s wonderful! The one from Alivan’s is soft and made of nice material but… Well since when are Hufflepuff colors black and peach?! Hope I can get a good deal on Ebay for it. ::crosses fingers::
My red Prefect badge also showed up! It’s going to look very cute on my red messenger bag. Yippie! I also got another Prefect badge from the 60’s with the most interesting fastener on the back. It’s like a horseshoe and I’ve managed to attach it to my Hufflepuff scarf. It’s a very faded orange so it’s kind of a yellow-orange now. Don’t think I’ll ever put it on my robes but it looks great on my scarf.
That reminds me! It’s Christmas holiday so now Dawn can come over and we’ll finish the robes soon. Yes! Can’t wait to get those done so I can start on my next project. I’ve decided that since I’m only 5’ with shoes on that I’m perfect for a Hobbit, plus as I’ve said I have great sidekick potential. So I’m going to start making one of those cloaks the Fellowship of the Ring wears. I’m so excited! I love projects. :) I’m also going to try some anime cosplay, such as Princess Emeraude from Magic Knight Rayearth. I’ve just got to find a character with short curly hair as I’ve just gotten a perm.<<<
Does anyone know of a strawberry blonde, curly haired, anime character? I could always go as my 'Ayashi no Ceres' fan created, yo-yo weilding, created character Kiaya...but no one would know who I was!

| | Fried Chicken | ] | Today was one of the best Friday’s I’ve had in about a month, well it’s right up there with the time I went to the movies with Tom at lest. I got a new scarf coming in Hufflepuff colors and I’m so excited! I can’t wait to brave the winter chill with a warm black and yellow scarf. If I get the right color coat and gloves I’ll be a bumblebee. It’ll be perfect for the Hufflepuff fanlisting I belong to, called “Like a bumblebee's arse” ::giggle::
Also today I got a brand new book of sheet music for my flute which makes me very happy. I haven’t had any new music since about my sophomore year in high school. It’s a book of Disney songs (including several of my favorites) that has a CD with it. The CD is great because it has two tracks for each song. One that plays the melody along with the accompaniment and the second one is just the accompaniment. I can’t wait to start practicing “Part of Your World” it’s going to be so much fun!
Got to head to bed now though, got hours of homework to do in the moring. Plus dad and I are going to get our Christmas tree tomorrow because the place was closed this evening. They closed at 4:30pm and Dad decided to drive out there anyway just to see if he might be open. We took a different route home which resulted in us stopping at the music store, which in turn got me my new music. Thank you chance.

| | Honey Battered Chicken | ] | One would think that after all these years I’d have grown used to my younger sister’s behavior. Yet I still find myself in shock after hearing about her latest exploit and I wonder when will she truly hit rock bottom because that might be the only thing to bring her to her senses. I hope.
On November 19th Jullya’s mother died of cancer and obviously Jullya was so distraught she wasn’t able to call anyone, not even my dad who happens to be her boyfriend of almost three years. I only knew because I called to check up on Granny not even a mere minute after she took her final breath. See Granny was a grandmother to me to so when I couldn’t see her I would try and call her at lest once a week.
Anyway we had the wake, the funeral, the luncheon, and all of that. Dad couldn’t make it because he was in D.C. but Colin came down and Jullya’s family was up (most are from Arkansas) so it was a nice, yet grief filled time. Unfortunately Granny isn’t the only one who passed during the beginnings of this years holiday season. The father of one of my brother’s friends (and my friend as well) passed away over the weekend from a heart attack.
Now this man’s son used to be a friend of my sisters until her sick mind and drug use cost her the friendship. So Jullya figured that Natalie ought to know about the passing so she called and left a message. I had just called her and Dad (they and the kids were coming home from D.C. as Jullya had driven there for Thanksgiving) and told Dad the news because they were friends.
Well once Natalie got the message she immediately calls Jullya back and proceeds to screech and cuss her out. It was all “f” this and “f” that and about how she was angry because she had to hear about Granny’s death from Dad and not from Jullya herself. That Jullya should have been the one to call.
The entire time that Jullya is telling me this I’m thinking that I’d love to wipe that ever present smirk off of my sisters face. And I am not a violent person. Natalie wasn’t even close to Granny, in fact she didn’t even do anything to help the entire time that Granny was sick! On top of that it was Jullya’s mother for crying out loud! Calling my sister after her mother had just died was not high on her list of priorities believe me.
But it doesn’t stop there, oh how I wish it did. My father and Jullya’s two young children both heard the exchange and then what does Natalie do? She calls my Dad on his phone and asks to borrow the van as she still doesn’t have a car! The nerve of her! The last time she used it the entire thing reeked of marijuana. It’s bad enough that she does drugs and sells them... ::sigh::
Now…as far as the guy from Barnes and Nobel is concerned… That sure was interesting! All I was doing was sitting there reading a book and waiting for Tom when I got a bit bored and decided to do a little people watching. The guy sitting a few seats away was wearing one of those newsie caps I simply adore so I complimented him on it. Next thing I know I’m pulled into a 45min conversation with him about everything under the sun. Turns out his sister was almost as bad as mine and his mom had died of cancer almost a year before mine. This freaked him out quite a bit. So then I get an email from him and it’s really long and filled with personal information that I didn’t need to know.
I forwarded the message to a friend and she said:
Maybe you should charge him by the hour and have him take you out... Obviously he is looking for someone to pour his life story to... And that comment means like a shrink...
Let’s just say I was very glad for Tom to show up so I wasn’t by myself in the store anymore.
Now on a totally unrelated note… I just saw the lamplight reflect off my cats gold colored eyes making them look like marbles... Totally cool!

| | Leftovers | ] | So how is everyone after the big kill turkey day? Stuffed to the brim and enjoying countless turkey sandwiches thanks to leftovers? My turkey day wasn’t bad, went to the neighbors for dinner, watched my new X2 DVD with the youngins and got to answer numerous questions throughout the entire movie, often repeats then they got angry when I told them I didn’t want to spoil something for them. They wanted to know then! Kids today, no patience.
The next day was Friday and I got to go to the movies with my friend Tom, both had a fun time ‘lest that’s the impression that I got and when asked if he wanted to do it again sometime he said sure. We saw the new Eddie Murphy movie based on the Haunted Mansion ride at Disney and it was cute but not what I expected. Sure the zombies were disgusting, they stuck close to the story behind the ride, and the fire was wicked, but they needed more special effects! The majority of the ghosts spent most of their time acting like regular humans. I know this movie wasn’t made for the adult viewing audience but come on! Kids see scarier stuff in their video games and on television then what they saw in this movie! Though I have to admit the sinning busts were pretty neat and I love the line, “Honey, they have dead people in the backyard.” But it needed more oomph!
The next day was Saturday and it was kind of dull, spent the majority of it trying to get a hold of my dad to give him a message. He, Jullya, Courtney, and Justin were coming home from Washington D.C. but both adults had their cell phones off so it was near impossible to reach either of them. Which isn’t a good thing when your trying to deliver the message that a friend’s father had recently passed away…
Sunday ran along the lines of Saturday, gray and dull. Plus I had the makings of a migraine along with sinus problems so not only did I sleep in but also I missed church! So not fun, I really like going to my church! It’s a real contemporary service with lots of wonderful music (my favorite part) and I was looking forward to hearing the message. Were working on a relationship series now and about how to make us heard better and such like that. Another bummer to my sleeping in was I didn’t get my VCR set to record my Sunday morning cartoons. Which meant I didn’t get to see the Teen Titans or Xiaolin Showdown, not to mention Mucha Lucha and X-Men Evolution.
I’m hoping that this weekend will be a bit better rounded then the last. Dad says were going to get our tree on Friday and although I’m completely opposed to having a live tree again it should be some fun. Maybe this year I can convince him no to put the blinking lights up, I think the cat likes them too much. I’ve also got a ton of math to do but that should be to bad as it’s on areas and I’m somewhat okay on that section. What I’m really hoping I’ll get to do this weekend is have a fire in the fireplace and enjoy some hot chocolate while playing several rounds of dominos. Mmm…dominos…fun!
I’ve got to run to astronomy though so I’m going to cut this entry off here. I know it was a total bore, just felt like getting something down though. After work I’ll have a much juicer update, thanks to this guy I talked to at Barns and Nobels and some more of my sisters antics.

| | Movie Popcorn With Extra Butter | ] | With a slew of bad movies out there lately, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” and “Scary Movie 3” to name a few and the next “Harry Potter” installment in five months (give or take a few days) the public needed a refreshing change. And it’s arrived in a nicely some-what animated package. Or at lest in this little Hufflepuffs honest opinion. “Looney Tunes Back in Action” was done just like “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” (only cleaner) and was an excellent film!
There was comedy, tons of explosions (both real and animated) and Batman! I mean aside from a little romance and some jelly bellies how much more do you need? The cast was such a potpourri of Tunes that I’m not even sure I caught each one! And on top of all that there was even a Metaluna alien which some might recognize from the film “This Island Earth” or if you’re a MST3K movie fan it’s also in their movie (as they make fun of “This Island Earth”).
W A R N I G
S P O I L E R
S P A C E
A H E A D ! !
The story is easy to follow, Brendan Fraser (DJ) and Jenna Elfman (Kate) are accompanied by Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck to finish DJ’s father’s secret mission to find the blue diamond which has the power to turn humans into monkeys (like the one seen on Friends) and then back into humans. Steve Martin (Mr. Chairman) wants the diamond to turn all humans into monkeys via satellite so that he can have them make ACME products. He then plans to turn them back into humans so that they will buy the products. While the transformation is taking place he keeps himself and Mary, a female VIP safe from the diamonds rays via a containment chamber. Naturally.
Along with the bright cast of Tunes there were a few other people who popped into the film that I feel needed to be listed. Just incase one wishes to keep their eyes peeled for them.
Human Characters:
• Batman • Matthew Lillard (He played Shaggy in Scooby-Doo’s live action film) • Robert Picardo (Currently staring in the Lyon’s Den but was the holographic doctor on Star Trek Voyager as well as a few Home Improvement episodes as the ‘Meat Man’) • Jeff Gordon • John Cleese • The robot from “Lost In Space” (Please call him Robert)
Animated (majority are Looney Tunes):
• Bugs Bunny • Daffy Duck • Elmer Fudd • Yosemite Sam • Yosemite Sam’s cowboy henchmen • Road Runner • Porky Pig • Speedy Gonzales • Granny • Sylvester • Tweety • Tasmanian Devil • Female Tasmanian Devil • Marvin the Martin • Roadrunner • Foghorn Leghorn • The Three Bears • Pepe Le Pew (Only in the movies can a skunk be a French policeman) • Wile E. Coyote • Scooby Doo (He and Shaggy are threatening Matthew Lillard because of how he portrayed them in the movie) • Shaggy • Ralph the Wolf (the Wile look alike with a red nose) • Sam the Sheepdog • One of Sam’s sheep (it pops out of Ralph’s lunchbox) • The mad scientist who made the big orange monster who wears red sneakers
Now granted I’ve only seen this once so I probably haven’t caught all of the cameo’s and such but even those whose favorite Looney Tune is a lesser known or hard to find, will enjoy this film. At lest in MHO. Besides it’s a great film to see after a long week and a perfect family film. While an added bonus is a teaser preview for “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”.
Why, oh why, must they make us wait five more months?

| | Meow Mix | ] | Well yesterday night Dawn and I got a small start on my Hufflepuff robes by cutting out the pattern and getting it ready to pin down on the fabric. I love the colors I got but the material got really wrinkled in the washing machine and I don’t want to even think about how long it’s going to take to iron it! Dawn is of the opinion that after we pin the pattern to me to check for size we should be able to get all of the black cut out and quite possibly start on the yellow fabric. Personally I hope she sticks around long enough so that we can also get the yellow cut out. That way I can iron the pieces during the week so that they are all nice and wrinkle-free when she comes by the following Saturday. Thanks to conflicting and extremely busy schedules we can only get together on Saturday mornings which means it will be about a month or so until the robe is finished. On top of that were going to have to make the sleeve holes a bit smaller, but that shouldn’t be too hard.
Luckily I don’t have to get to many more pieces for the costume to be complete. I plan on using my skirt and dress shirt from my Gryffindor uniform. All I’ll need to buy is a Hufflepuff patch, the scarf, and I’ll have to find a tie. As far as the tie is concerned I’m thinking of getting a yellow tie and then a black paint pen and coloring in the spaces. Right now that’s what I think my best bet will be. Unless I can find a tie in the store like it. Just got to keep looking! |

| | Lemon Pepper Chicken | ] | I’m not entirely sure I know how to describe this early morning’s event. At first flabbergasted pops into mind but then disappointed quickly follows along with disgust, sympathy, and then finally disbelief. What pray tell brought on such a variety of emotions? Two things, my sister and my father.
Natalie, my twenty-one year old sister, recently totaled the car that she was driving and had to borrow the families van. Now she’s never had a good track record with cars and has more accidents and tickets then I have fingers or toes. She gets about an ticket a week and since she doesn’t have a permanent address they all get sent home.
So anyway she borrows the van and decides to go to a club around 5:30am in Chicago in some industrial area. She then parks the van by some fence and leaves most of her money, her purse, and over $500 worth of clothing in the vehicle. Honestly, who in their right mind would keep that many clothes in a car? And on that note why does she have so many clothes?
Well when she came out of the club the van was missing and so Dad (who at this time was in Washington D.C. on a business trip) were calling impound lots looking for it. Finally, when nothing comes up, Dad decides that it was stolen and files a police report. In the mean time Natalie is getting friends and coworkers to drive her around.
Last night, or rather this morning, she calls around 3:15am and leaves this message on the machine in a really weird voice. Lo and behold she has found the van and its right where she parked it only it’s covered in flyers. On top of that everything, even down to her vitamins are still there. Her clothes, her money, her purse, the families best umbrella, it’s all still there. So then she says and I quote:
“I guess they only wanted to borrow it.”
Hello! If a person was going to steal a car they would not bring it back to the exact place it was taken from and leave everything still in there! There’s your first clue that something isn’t right in her head.
So she keeps my dad and I up for a few hours with repeated phone calls and has Dad call the police to cancel the report as well. Dam it, why couldn’t she wait until a logical hour to call? Of course she’d need to be able to think properly to do that.
The next morning when Dad and I are both up and were trying to decide what to do with his girlfriends dog (her daughter is in the hospital so where taking care of it) I tell him that the whole story seems fishy to me. He replies that she probably forgot where she parked. Now any normal person would actually look around for the car if they forgot, she claims it was impounded, and then the story grows to it being stolen.
My neighbor aggress that she’s obviously hiding something. Perhaps Natalie lent it to a friend and didn’t want to tell Dad, or maybe she got a ride home and simply forgot it. I am of the opinion that she came out of that club drunk and high, just like she always is, and frankly had no clue what was going on. Honestly I can’t remember the last time she was in her right frame of mind and as harsh as it sounds I hope she hits rock bottom. And soon.
So here I sit, disgusted with my sister, flabbergasted that she could honestly think that someone “borrowed” it and then returned it with everything left, and disappointed that she could let herself go like this. Natalie was a straight A student in grade school and junior high for crying out loud! I also feel sympathy for my Dad and I’m sorry he has to put up with this. Yet there’s also some disgust for him as well because he’s so clearly in denial. I realize it’s his daughter but at some point you have to realize that you can’t do anything to help them.
::sigh::

I was officially wiped so please excuse my lack of content. Though to be perfectly honest there isn’t anything entirely to thrilling in my life anyway.
Now on to other items of business, such have I taken up residence here, what’s with the name, and why Hufflepuff? The answers to those questions are simple and, admitted, boring. I’m here because I feel like ranting about my life to unknown people who might come across this journal. The name is from a character that I created for a story when I noticed the complete lack of attention given to Hufflepuff and its members (aside from Cedric, R.I.P.). And as for the reason I chose Hufflepuff and not Ravenclaw, well plain and simple, it’s where I personally would fit the best!
Of course I’ll be posting the basics here but I’m also going to do a bit more. I’ve currently become active in the cosplay field, particularly cosplaying Harry Potter characters and plan to post updates on my costumes and adventures. This will of course include how parts are progressing and rant when I get angry at the difficulty of finding a much needed piece. For example I do not look forward to figuring out how to get my hands on the Prisoner of Azkaban ties for the movie premier.
So there you have it! All the boring information you never wanted to know and then some! |

Oh and that smile! ::sighs dreamily:: I’m also working my way into the world of Harry Potter costuming, slowly at that, and making new robes for the Prisoner of Azkaban movie premier in June. Right now I've got about twenty yards of fabric in my washing machine and dryer. A nice black and a mix between canary yellow/goldenrod.
Obviously I’ll post more when I have the chance. But I was up quite late last night cleaning my father’s girlfriend’s house as she is in the hospital with her daughter and I wanted to surprise her. I’ll try to write more after church tomorrow; if not I’ll definitely be writing during fall holiday.
