I happen to like the online game of Neopets, so when I finally figured out what the Neopian Times is all about, I wrote a story for it.
This is the third time I've submitted the story. The first two times I got fairly generic "There are too many good stories for the next issue all ready, so we can't post yours. Sorry." responses. This time I got a specific reason for why they cannot post my story as is.
"My mother was so happy before the knights came. She had a handsome husband and her first child was on the way."
We prefer you don't mention how Neopets come to the world or married Neopets.
What the hell? Why not?
And while this may not seem like a big deal, the whole fact that the character has parents affects the way he acts in the story. I can't take the parents out without completely changing the character, and I don't want to do that.
Plus, there is some really dark, heavy stuff that goes on in that story that is completely ignored by this rejection slip. Why?
